Board of Directors



A Board of Directors governs Harbour City Homes  to establish its strategic direction and policy framework. Meetings are held regularly at Harbour City Homes' main office and are further attended by the General Manager, who is responsible for the day to day operations of the society under the direction of the Board of Directors.


Syed Hussain - Chairperson
Syed has been a member of the board for 20 + years and was elected to the Chair in 2013. He is CEO of Gem Healthcare Group.



James Boudreau - Secretary -Treasurer
Jim has been a member of HCH Board of Directors since February 2013 and currently serves as its secretary/treasurer. Jim holds the position as a partner with Halifax based law firm Wickwire Holm.


Bernard Smith
Bernard was elected to HCH’s board in March 2014. Bernard held the position of Manager of the Spring Garden Road Area Business Association.



Geoff Axell

Geoff was elected to the board in March 2014. He currently holds the position of Principal, Senior Structural Engineer at CBCL Limited.

Virginia Hinch

A lifelong north end resident Virginia is an active volunteer within our community. She is a passionate advocate for families seeking safe and affordable housing.  Raising her son on her own Virginia understands the challenges faced by those under similar circumstances. She is a proud Mom of her 26 year old son who wishes that others receive the same opportunities that have been afforded to her. She believes that all residents of HCH should live in a home that will instill pride of place and dignity. Virginia understands the challenges faced by HCH during our Capital Improvement Program and is sensitive to our attempts to improve the HCH tenant experience. As both a long term HCH tenant and a professional employed with the Metro Housing Authority the Board welcomes her invaluable input.
